Illustrated below are the 1 Penny and 2 Penny postage due designs used from 1902 to 1938. In 1902 they replaced the design that had been introduced in 1899. The design was changed again in 1938. The postage due design between 1902-38 was printed on a variety of papers and it is this that mainly distinguishes the different issues. The paper varieties varied from thick to thin with and without a chalky surface. Mainly watermarked but the 1925 issue had no watermark but a "NZ" and Star lithographed on the back.
