Illustrated below is a set of 1882-1890 Queen Victoria Definitives. The set was originally issued in 1882 but went through many printings with 3 Dies used over the period of issue and with a variety of papers, perforations and small variations of watermark. Making identification of individual issues very tricky.The watermark was a small star below the letters "N Z". Details of some of the individual stamps appear above and below the set.

New Zealand-An 1893-3 Penny Postage Stamp-With Advert on Back-Illustrated
Illustrated below is a Queen Victoria 3 Penny (yellow) stamp with an advert for "Sunlight Soap" on the back.
Originally the adverts were horizontal but in the subsequent issues the adverts were printed vertically. The base of the advert sitiuated at the base of the vertical stamp. Lettering for the adverts was brown-red or sepia. Adverts on the backs of stamps were discontinued after 1895.

New Zealand-Queen Victoria Sixpence (Brown)-1896 Postage Stamp-Illustrated
Illustrated is the Die 2 version of the 1896 New Zealand Queen Victoria issue Sixpenny (brown). the design was issued from 1882-1900 and multiple varieties exist. Die 1 was thought be unsatisfactory in some respects, the hair at the top of the head being badly defined. In 1891 advertisments were applied to the back of the issue, the ndiscontinued in 1893. Some colour and paper variations also exist.

New Zealand-1934 Mount Cook 2 Penny/Halfpenny-Illustrated
Illustrated is the Mt Cook 2 penny/halfpenny issue of 1935 (see other values this blog), part of a large set from a Halfpenny to 3 Shilling values with New Zealand wildlife alternating with New Zealand scenes as the designs. The Mt Cook 2 Penny/halfpenny is more highly valued lightly used than mint.

New Zealand Dependencies-2 Early Postage Stamps
Illustrated below are two stamps. No 1 is the 1 Penny (black and carmine-red) of Rarotonga issued in 1920 when the island was a dependency of New Zealand. It shows the Wharf at Avarua. The stamp is more highly valued lightly used than mint.
The second example is the Cook Islands 6 Pence "White Tern or Torea" this was issued between 1896 and 1900 in values of a halfpenny to 1 Shilling. During the printing some of the values were re-issued with slightly different colours. The sixpence shown below was issued in purple in 1898 and again in 1900 in bright purple, this is the 1900 issue. Also more highly valued lightly used.

New Zealand-Some Edward the 7th Definitives-1909 Postage Stamps
Illustrated below are some of the 1909 issue of Edward the Seventh definitives from New Zealand. The set consisted of eight values from 2 penny (mauve) to 1 Shilling (vermilion) issued in 1910. Below are the 2 penny (mauve), 3 penny (chestnut), 5 pence (brown)-(issued in 1910) two examples of the 8 pence (indigo-blue) and 1Shilling (vermilion)
