A French Colonial Banknote-1939 Syria Lebanon Livre-1939-Illustrated

Illustrated is the obverse and reverse of a French colonial banknote issued for Syria and Lebanon in 1939. The French ruled the now two seperate nations as a single entity with a League of Nations Mandate after the collapse of Turkish Ottoman rule in World War 1. The French ruled until 1943 when Vichy France lost power during the Second World War. The watermark (contained within the large white circle) is the head of an eagle.
