King Cakobau of Fiji ceded Fiji to Great Britain in 1874 and thereafter Fiji became a Crown Colony. The original stamp issues of King Cakobau were overprinted with "V R" (Victoria Regina). New issues were printed "V R" between 1878-1899. The 1 penny postage in 2 shades is illustrated below.
